Eleven new pieces - quite the same yet different.

There is a double above - can you spot it?
Quite an opportunity for me to try to understand the subtle, and not so subtle, differences when using the same colors and elements.

Hi there, my name is Jessica and I am an art teacher! I actually just realized you had some pieces that said Ithaca NY, where I live!
Are you local to Ithaca?
I happened upon your texture art, and I absolutely love it. I want to do a project with my 5-8 year olds quite similar to this at the day camp I teach at this summer, and I wanted to ask some questions because I looked into the joint compound and they said it was unsafe for kids to use. But I thought if I had them use gloves when pressing into the compound and we didn't sand it, it would be fine.
Also, I was wondering if Acrylic paint would maybe not be the best for kids to smear with their hands, would tempera work?
If you are local, would you want to come as a guest artist?
Sorry to bombard you with many questions, but I have been very inspired. :)
Thank you for your art.

Hi Jessica - Thanks for your enthusiasm! I have done handprints with kids. I didn't know about the dangers of joint compound for youngsters - gloves sound good. You could do the sanding when the students were not around. You would have to experiment with tempera to see what would work and what would not. I think that you would still have to seal the joint compound with polymer medium or some other varnish product.
I live in Mansfield, PA. My summer is too full already so I wouldn't be able to be a guest artist this year.
Hope that helps, send on any questions that you might have bodie(at)ptd(dot)net.
